BEFORE YOUR LIP BLUSH  APPOINTMENT

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before your procedure

  • Do not consume caffeine of any kind the day of your procedure

  • Do not take any Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief the day of your procedure (these also thin the blood)

  • Do not work out 24 hours before or the day of the procedure

Other important reminders:

  • If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex virus) even just having one, you must get a prescription medicine from your doctor for Valtrex or similar antiviral. Even if you have never experienced a cold sore it is STRONGLY suggested that you also get this prescription.  Data suggests that 50-80% of the adult population has this virus. In some people the virus remains dormant unless provoked. There is a chance this procedure will provoke an outbreak whether you have experienced a cold sore or not. Anything that causes damage to lip skin can cause an outbreak. Outbreaks will affect pigment retention and results and are NOT PRETTY.  If you are one who has never had a cold sore, please take this suggestion to get the medication seriously. If you have history of at least one cold sore, this is not a suggestion, this is a must. If you do not prepare for your appointment with this medication, you accept the risk and your artist is not responsible. TO TAKE MEDICATION: This medicine must be taken two days prior to procedure, the day of, and two days after.

  • Do not perform electrolysis one week before the procedure

  • Do not get a sunburned face within one week prior to the service

  • Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to the procedure

  • Do not have botox 2 weeks prior to the procedure

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)

  • Wait at least 4 weeks after fillers to receive this procedure

  • Clients with collagen injections must wait 4 months before receiving this procedure. Poor color retention in these lips is common when done within 4 months. The same goes for Restylane but within 1 year. There is a risk for pigment migration along the lip line if you have had Restylane within the year.

  • Have moisturized lips free of any dryness or sores (start moisturizing a few days prior)

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)

  • You may be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle

  • Drink lots of water prior to your procedure
